CAMOUFLAGE

Skin camouflage uses cosmetics applied to the skin surface to improve the appearance of the skin.  Facial foundations, which are translucent moisturizers containing iron oxide pigments, can cover mild problems, such as freckles.  Special opaque waterproof surgical foundations can be used to cover birthmarks and scars, where none of the underlying skin should be seen.

Colored cosmetics, particularly  blush and green facial foundations, can be used to blend undesirable red tones, occurring on the face:
  • medical conditions – rosacea, hemangioma, scar
  • surgical site – post-operative redness
